The first thing you have to do is to find and eliminate the stressors. The emotional and physical stressors that consumed a great deal of your holiday energy have to be dealt with. Take a few minutes and try to think of what are the ones that will always stress you and list them. By listing those stressors, you can easily remember them – call them your “stress inventory”. Make a firm commitment to eliminate every one of them. Say you have 12 stressors, make a conscious effort eliminate them by outsourcing of delegating to all the members of the family. That way, everybody is part of the festive atmosphere. It can be fun too, instead of the stressful atmosphere that has been prevalent all the while. You need to have control over what you have prepared to be done for the holidays. You have to learn how to say ”no” when things are out of the prepared plan. So that things will be done the way it should be.

Outsourcing or delegating majority of your household chores could give the much needed stress relief. I know it is very difficult to ask for some help or assistance when you are dealing with holiday preparations. You have to accept the fact that any support you can have will go a long way in easing up your holiday stress. Before the season starts, make an inventory or list of all the activities and recipes for the holidays, that way you can prepare a plan of action to dealing with the possible holiday stress. It is very difficult resist the idea of doing it yourself. Believing that if you are going to do it by yourself could make a perfect dinner and activities is the wrong idea. Resist the temptation. If you have not tried soliciting other peoples help, you will be surprised that a lot of people actually wanted to help. So start listing the names of your possible nominees to help out.

Regardless of how you prepare and plan for all the things you have to do during the holidays, holiday stress is just around the corner. As if this holidays stress will never go away. With all the taking care of the daily urgencies of the season like; the visitations, planning, cooking, and organizing the activities, renders you with no time, space and energy left for you. These things will really make you impatient, cranky, tired, spent, and unhappy. The holidays are supposed to be “fun” and happy times of our lives. Get rid of holiday stress. Give yourself and your family the best gift for the holidays by being healthy and happy. Stress tips you can do to reduce stress. Do breathing exercises, practising meditation (yoga, transcendental meditation, reiki), play your favourite sports, go for walk, take a nice bath or watch your favourite movies. Remember these ideas and practice them whenever you are getting those holiday stress.
